6 months old!!

Our little birthday boy has had a pretty fantastic first 6 months. Some of the highlights:

- traveling to Mexico
- composing songs on the piano
- singing his first sonata
- learning to read
- texting his peeps
Ok, so the list is a bit of an exaggeration. But Ollie's growth is truly amazing us and we are very proud of his new tricks. He is rolling over, sitting up unassisted, getting his butt up in the air ready for the crawl, ever so slowly sprouting hair, eating solid food, and drooling soooo much we are sure his teeth are coming soon. He melts our hearts daily with his smiles and laughter. We are unbelievably in love with our little Mack and are enjoying him immensely.
We are off to celebrate Ollie's birthday weekend with his first camping trip on the American River, where he will be learning to whitewater kayak .... or maybe just to sleep (we hope) in a tent!

2 months old!

In Ollie's second month he got to meet his Aunt Bree and Uncle Joah, take a road trip to SB and see his first snow in Tahoe (he still seems more interested in shadows on the walls than in what's going on outside!). The most exciting milestones for us this month:

1) he started really smiling!!

2) he is sleeping much more at night- hooray!

Obviously we have a LONG way to go with this cute kid, but I'm already amazed at how fast he is growing and changing.

One month in the world!

Today is Ollie's 1 month birthday! The birthday boy is amazing to me in every way ... his tiny little flower petal fingers, funny faces, the squeaks, snorts and other strange sounds he makes, the amazing array of expressions that cross his face in a matter of minutes, the indescribable feeling I have staring into his blue (for the moment) eyes. I am completely and totally in love.

For the past month, Sean and I have been climbing the steep learning curve of parenthood and discovering something new on a daily basis. We are adjusting to the sleep schedule (not very much of it) along with all sorts of other new tasks. Still trying to figure out how to manage the old tasks and routines ... thus the month it took me to post some pictures!

We are so grateful for the family and friends who have come around to share their love, support, advice and baby hand-me-downs with us! We hope the rest of you can meet Ollie soon!

One Big Ol' Mango!

Very soon there will be one more Dougan in the world. This will probably be our last post before the big day (or two)! Wish us well with the mindful birthing/birthing from within/bradley/hypnobirthing techniques Raine has been practicing! The nursery is all set up with the cloudscape ceiling that Sean painted! Packing the hospital bag, and setting up the car seats! Can't wait to see what comes out of there! Hopefully a healthy, cute, and really calm/sleepy baby!

More like a melon than a mango!

Made it to another milestone- 8 months! All is still very well in prego land. I am loving this experience and am so excited to greet our little one in 8 or so weeks (for those of you who are fuzzy on your pregnancy math, full term is 40 weeks, or 10, 28 day months). Sean and I have received a ridiculous amount of showering this past month with a party in Santa Barbara (thanks, Mom!), a house warming/baby welcoming at our house in Oakland, and then a surprise b-day party to top it all off. Sean is hyper focused (possibly obsessed) with getting the house all baby ready, and my stepdad Richard spent a week here helping him with landscaping projects. We are so grateful for all the love and support from family & friends! What an incredible village this child will be born in to!

7 months!!

I somehow missed this in the library of baby books we have acquired, but the 3rd trimester starts at 28 weeks, which is exactly where we are now. I was mistaken in my last post and either nobody is reading this blog or nobody who knows better felt like correcting me! Anyway, all is still well in the baby making business. I love having this little thing inside me. I love feeling its kicks and tumbles. I love sending sweet thoughts and love its way. I love watching my belly swell and imagining the mango stretching and growing and taking shape as the perfect little being we will meet in a few months. We'll see what's in store for the final trimester, but so far I am fat and happy, and full of gratitude.
